Mechanical keyboards

I type all day, so I’ve decided it’s reasonable to care how every single keystroke feels. It isn’t, but here we are.

01 Why

A good keyboard is one you stop noticing, which takes a surprising amount of noticing to get to.

02 What I look for

Switches with a clean, even press, keycaps whose legends won’t wear off, and fewer keys than I thought I needed.

03 What I’ve learned

Sound matters more than anyone admits. The difference between a clack and a thock is real, and it is also completely ridiculous.
